Credo che in questo periodo ci sia un grande bisogno di punti di vista differenti, di qualcuno che ci aiuti a guardare le cose nella loro complessità, o anche solo da una prospettiva paradossale, cioé fuori dal senso comune.

Nel 2000 Joakim Eskildsen e Cia Rinnie, rispettivamente fotografo e scrittrice, hanno vissuto per quattro mesi ospiti di un campo nomadi in Ungheria, e da lì, nei sei anni successivi, hanno fotografato ed ascoltato le storie dei Rom in Romania, India, Finlandia, Russia, Grecia, Francia:
We have frequently been asked what had triggered our interest in the Roma, but we were unable to provide a definitive, let alone exhaustive answer. What is certain is that once we hard started we were unable to simply stop continuing with the project. The more we found out about the Roma and got to know them, the more our interest in and liking for them grew.
“The Roma Journeys”, ll lavoro che ne è scaturito, è stato rappresentato a Copenaghen tra il novembre 2007 e il febbraio 2008. Nella speranza che possa arrivare anche qui da noi, che dei nomadi abbiamo fatto un’emergenza, potete guardare qualche foto qui, o acquistare il libro.
